Robotic Pollination - Arugga
Robotic Pollination:
Arugga will launch in the fall its second generation of (tomato) pollination robots (called Polly+): working much faster than its first version and requiring only 1 to 2 robots to cover one hectare (2.5 acres).
The first version of Arugga’s pollination robot, Polly, has been used by the largest fruit and vegetable producer in Australia for 2.5 years; showing impressive results.
Increased Yields
Two of the largest North American tomato growers have also used the first version of Polly and witnessed increased yields of 2 to 5%.
One of these North American growers using Polly saw a 5% yield increase on a 2 acre surface, which translated into 6,500 added kilograms of tomatoes over a 3-month period.
Additional Benefits
- Customers using Polly+ will also be able to receive useful individual plant-level data such as: flower count, plant count and plant growth rate.
- Our pollination robot will work when both temperature and humidity levels are optimal in the greenhouse.
- Our solution will bring about key advantages to growers currently using bees:
- A non-contact solution preventing the spread of diseases by bees
- The ability to work in hot and cold temperatures when bees are inefficient
- Avoid the challenges faced by bees in greenhouses equipped with LED lighting
- Enable the use of UV screening to decrease pest stress
